Springboard week 2 Assignment

Our first job for week 2 was to create a character from polygon primitives and  creating a basic hirachy for those objects.
So, please allow me to introduce B-Boy (v1beta), my first character created in Maya:

The second assignment was about creating a set for our character.
Today I was eating like a sumo, what inspired me go for a dohyó. Maybe I will be trying something else, but I won´t hold back my first attempt:

  1. Hey Konstantin! Thanks for stopping by the Q&A.
You are already starting to pose characters?
    That's great!
I can't really see much of the assignment files, but I'll give you some small notes to get you started on the animation side.
Your single guy picture: you have a nice pose going on here. Something you might want to think about when doing poses is to try them out yourself and feel how your body works at a given situation.
I tried the first pose and couldn't help, but feeling that I had to lift my heel on the back leg in order to do it. Also one of the principles of animation is staging, (and that covers silhouette,) and right now the screen right hand is in contact with the thigh. Maybe not in Maya, but it appears like this in the rendered image. Of course the hand can touch the thigh, but I don't think that is intended and that is why you should think about getting visual space, from the point of view, so that what's happening in your pose is as clear as possible.
Hope my tip helps you in the future.
    Cheers
    -Martin
