Class 3 - Advanced body mechanics collaboration
In class three everybody had to do a story pitch for a body mechanics sequence, consisting of 10 shots. We also had to animate three shots in total, two as a part of our collaboration sequence, which was chosen by our mentor Mike Stern and created by my lovely classmate Janel Drewis.
Those are my two final sequence shots cut together. Our character is a young, agile, and slightly over-ambitious hunter - chasing a big bird. In order to get it, he has to climb a rock to get a better position for throwing his spear.
Animating together in a group was an intense experience and we really had to dive into our character´s thoughts and actions to make him act believably and consistent. Everybody was highly motivated and I´m sure we all learned a lot. Thanks for that fun ride guys!
I will post the whole sequence here as soon as I have a complete, nice looking version!
This is my first shot. I had to do it alone and it was all about body mechanics. It was a good training for the two following hunter shots. There´s still many things to improve but I think it´s kind of working.
Last, but not least, this is my story pitch. The pictue below shows its character,
a tattoed surfer guy whos riding a skateboard. I wanted to do a skateboarder and my classmate Brock Boyts came up with the idea that we could have someone riding his skateboard moving like a surfer.
I loved that twist and with that as a foundation I came up with that very rough animatic, which maybe will be brought back to life one day. This thing has a lot for me to learn from, and maybe I´ll try to do it step by step as a body mechanics practise in the future,
Class three was great, but also very demanding, so sorry for not posting anything all the time. Right now I´m finally struggling with my first acting shot, including lipsync - wooohooo!:D
I promise Class 4 posts won´t take as long as this one did!
Best regards. buuganimation
